Tottenham Hotspur Football Club is an English professional football club that currently plays in the Premier League. Fans also call it “Spurs” or “Lilywhites”. The slogan of Spurs is “Audere est Facere” (from Latin: “To Dare is To Do”). The present home of the club is White Hart Lane. It is a stadium in Tottenham, the London Borough of Haringey. Supporters name it “The Lane” or “WHL”. Now the capacity of the stadium is 36,240, but owners have plans to increase it to 50,000-60,000. The current chairman of the club is Daniel Levy. He is Managing Director of ENIC Group, a sports, entertainment and media group. Juan de la Cruz Ramos Canois a a head coach. The club was formed in 1882 by schoolboys from the bible class at All Hallows Church. The first name given to the team was Hotspur (after Harry Hotspur), but soon it became Tottenham Hotspur. Harry Hotspur was famous for his riding spurs and fighting cocks. This fact is depicted in the team’s crest that is represented by a cockerel. Spurs turned professional before Christmas 1895. In the 20th century Tottenham Hotspur was the first team that achieved the League and FA Cup Double. A new record was set in 1963 when Lilywhites became the first British club to win the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

Tottenham Hotspur Academy brining up young footballers from the age of 8 to 18. The Academy has all necessary facilities, among them are: 6 excellent full-size grass pitches, 4 intermediate and mini-size grass pitches, 1 full-size, floodlit artificial pitch, 1 artificial surface indoor area, fully equipped remedial gymnasium and treatment rooms, shower and changing facilities, canteen. Coaching staff includes: Alex Inglethor Chris Ramsey, Perry Suckling, Peter Hucker, Bradley Allen, Ose Aibangbee, Pat Staunton, Mat Joseph, Danny Micciche, Danny Buck, Roger Miller. The current sport director is Damien Comolli and the Academy manager is John McDermott. The home matches of Tottenham usually have very high attendance, because the club have 1.4 million fans in Britain.
